Genovese Coffee House is a multi-functional space rooted in family history of third-generation family member Adam Genovese, where industrial heritage marries mid-century design with ecological and cultural visions.
The Sydney warehouse houses a traditional espresso bar, commercial kitchen, training bars and various retail displays. The design embraces the building's commericall past with minimal new materials, using harvested brickwork, Durra Panel insulation, and reclaimed timber joinery. Sustainable elements complement exposed heritage brick and timber trusses, celebrating age and imperfections.
The palette, earthy with burgundy and orange accents, creates a refined yet relaxed ambience. Glass bricks and curved shapes add unexpected design moments, while vintage coffee memorabilia builds a narrative steeped in coffee history. Genovese's commitment to environmental responsibility, from carbon offsetting to solar panels, positions them as leaders in sustainability within the Australian coffee industry.
"Our Coffee House is a strong tribute to the heritage of our 52 year old family business, of the era in which our company was started and the vision we’ve created for the future of our brand. All these elements were captured so well by our designer/architect Jeremy Bull and his team at Alexander &CO. and combined into making the space so warm and inviting that we literally get told by people “I never want to leave”."
